Roadside tree Removal

Following a tree hazard survey completed by our client, a number of trees were identified as potential hazards compromising safety along a busy A road section on the edge of the Peak District.

The trees where 20 meter plus Larch growing directly adjacent to the busy stretch of road. A third party specialist Traffic management company was was contracted in by PLS to organise the closure of one lane to allow machinery to park up safely.

Using a quality traffic management company only serves to enhance safety on site and allows Arborists to concentrate on the job in hand!

With the lane closed it allowed us to bring in a wagon based MEWP (mobile elevating work platform). This was key to removing the trees safely and quickley minimising disruption.

The use of a MEWP is the most acceptable and safest option for carrying out tree work at height (accept for not working at height!) and must be the first consideration in the organisation phase of any job. This 30m machine was more than capable of getting the job done safely and provided an extremely stable platform during the work with the the abilty to park the base unit well away from the drop zone.

With all the trees down, branches and timber stacked in the woodland the job was completed within the working day with no need to return the day after. This would have not been acheivable without the use of a MEWP and allowed the removal of the crowns in very small sections quickley, something that would not have been possible in the day using ropes access techniques.
